Class reunions. Love and madness in one plate.

Anet Klásková - service - restaurant Stodola Olomouc

Class reunions - two words that trigger a mix of emotions in a restaurant that even the best chef wouldn't stir. At our restaurant. The Barn we handle about a hundred a year. And while I could write that they're just regular bookings like any other, I'd be lying.

Class reunion is an absolute genre.

It usually starts with a message like:
„Hello, we would like to have a class reunion at your place. We'll be about 20... maybe 40... or even 60. Or maybe just 10. I don't know yet. Let's not talk about food yet, people haven't called...“
And you know this is just the beginning.

If you don't know who's coming...

The organizer, the one brave man who's gonna take it all on, I admire and regret at the same time.
Put thirty, forty, sometimes fifty names together. Getting contacts, contacting classmates, some don't even call anymore, others promise to come, but „they don't know yet“.
Now imagine you want to order something to go with it - food, a welcome drink, snacks. Almost sci-fi.

Sometimes it looks like a guest books a lounge for 50 people.
They don't know until the last minute how many are coming.
Neither do we. But we are ready. Always.
And then suddenly - they all arrive. Without an order. They're all hungry. And thirsty.

Three reunions in one night? That's gotta be cool!

We recently had three class reunions in one evening.
About 150 people in total.
No exaggeration - the kitchen was running like hell, it was like a hockey final on the set.
Some people had sirloin steak, some had burgers, some had salad, some just beer and chips.
But everyone was excited. Laughter, photos, hugs. People who hadn't seen each other in years suddenly sitting at the same table.

And you know what? We love it.

A gratitude that you don't serve... but you feel.

When you see people's eyes light up when they meet for the first time in years... when they laugh at stories from the ninth grade... when they hug the cantor they originally wanted to spit out, and now they invite him for a drink...
So you say to yourself:
Yeah, this makes sense.

We here at the Barn we don't just do food.
We create space for memories. For laughter. For unexpected encounters and moments that people will remember.

So what did the poet mean?

That it's not always easy.
But if it were easy, it would be boring. A boredom is not our style.

Thank you for trusting us.
Thank you for choosing Stodola as a place to reconnect with classmates, friends, and stories.
And if you're just thinking, where to have a class reunion - you know where to find us. 😊
